Summer Book Swap

There will be a Summer Book Swap in the Elementary School on July 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Bring a book (or maybe more) and trade it for another one! Participants will also be treated to ice cream!

RISE Rewards Assembly

Blaine Terrill and Graciana Wagner are shown sitting on all of the RISE Reward tickets earned by Lake Linden-Hubbell elementary students during the school year. At the end of the year assembly over 100 names were drawn for prizes. Blaine and Graciana were the grand prize winners, each receiving a $50 WalMart gift card.

Elementary School Picnic Day

The last day of school for students is Friday, June 9. This will also be Elementary School picnic day. Grades K-4 will be going to the Lake Linden Village Park. Grades 5-6 will be going to McLain State Park. All students should pack a bag lunch (no glass containers).

Kindergarten Graduation

Kindergarten Graduation will be held on Tuesday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Family and friends are invited to attend.

Breakfast and Lunch Menu

Research shows that starting the day with a nutritious breakfast helps students stay alert and perform better in school. Having breakfast also helps students develop healthy eating habits that contribute to their well being.

The Lake Linden-Hubbell School District participates in the School Breakfast Program. Nutritious, balanced and healthy breakfasts are served Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.

Register to Receive Emergency Alerts

The Lake Linden-Hubbell School District has implemented a program that will allow school officials to communicate important information to parents and students via text messaging and/or email. This messaging program will be used for such things as school closures (snow days, early dismissal due to weather), emergencies and other important announcements. Labels and Receipts Help Benefit the Elementary School

The Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary School collects CAMPBELL SOUP LABELS, GENERAL MILLS BOX TOPS and ECONO FOODS RECEIPTS throughout the school year.

For Campbell Soup labels, all that is required is the UPC bar code that says Labels for Education and may have a point number attached.

Please check the expiration dates on the box tops.

Econo Foods receipts should be for the current year.

Proceeds from these fund raisers enables the PTO to purchase items and fund requests that benefit the students in grades K-6 at Lake Linden–Hubbell Elementary. Your efforts are very much appreciated.

The Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools is pleased to be able to offer online event streaming for athletic games and other school events. Viewing an archived event is free after 72 hours. Live viewing is available with a paid subscription for which several options are offered.

LAKES PRIDE - "Rise As One"

The Lake Linden-Hubbell Sports Booster Club is proud to present LAKES "Rise As One" shirts! Help spread LAKES PRIDE by wearing one of these custom shirts.

The goal of this LAKES PRIDE campaign is to unite our students, parents, staff and community as one. These shirts will represent all aspects of the Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools, ranging from Athletics to Academics as well as all Clubs and organizations in which our students participate.

Late Start Schedule

In the event of a two hour delayed start to school, the schedule will be as follows:

Jr./Sr. High School - 10:00 am to 3:20 p.m. (Students report to their 1st hour class.)

Elementary School - 10:15 a.m. to 3:04 p.m.

Local radio and television stations will announce details of the school delays and closings. The Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools will also display the information as an "Urgent Message" on the district home page as well as sending a text message via our emergency alert system.

What goes into the decision to call off school because of weather?

The schools in Houghton and Keweenaw Counties have agreed to act together when it comes to making decisions regarding weather related cancellations, delays or early dismissals. Ultimately, the final decision is made by the ISD Superintendent, but many others are involved in the process.

When weather advisories, warnings or conditions warrant consideration, the ISD Superintendent is up at 4:30 in the morning talking with the Houghton County Road Commission. The Road Commission has a person who drives all over the County, starting at 3:30 in the morning. This individual is also in contact with his counterpart in Keweenaw County. The Road Commission briefs the ISD Superintendent on the road conditions and how well the plows are doing. The Superintendent then communicates with a local meteorologist, who provides a forecast for the upcoming day. It is important to know that a decision on delaying or canceling school must be made by no later than 5:15 a.m., as the first bus driver starts his bus at 5:30 a.m.

Most times, making the call is an easy one. If the Road Commission states that the plows are not able to clear the roads or if the wind chill temperature is -30 degrees Fahrenheit, then the call is made right away. However, there are times when the decision is not as clear cut. For instance, if the wind chill is around -25 degrees Fahrenheit and not predicted to get colder, then it is not as easy to make the decision.

When it comes to closing school early, unless we know for certain that the weather will deteriorate, the policy has always been to keep students in school. If we know that the weather is somewhat bad, but it’s not predicated to get any worse, then the ride home at the end of the day is not likely to be better or worse than it would be in the middle of the day.

Weather is unpredictable and may change many times during any one day. We may see winds pick up, and at one moment it may look like a white-out and the next the sun is shining. Please know that decisions are made with the best information that is available at the time. The ISD Superintendent is in constant contact with the Road Commission, the local meteorologist and other local superintendents to make the best decision possible.
