Performing Arts
 

Band

 

Grade Level: 9-12
Elective: One year - 2 credits
Prerequisites: Junior high band or music background

High school band is geared towards performing about 25 times per year--in the Lakes Marching Band, the Lakes Pep Band, small ensembles and regular concert performances. To enroll in this class, students must be prepared to attend all marching band and concert band performances and a majority of pep band performances. They are a part of the class grade.

Choir

Grade Level: 9-12
Elective: One year - 2 credits
Prerequisites: None

This course will include music theory, proper singing technique, learning the fundamentals of singing classical choral music, pop, and theatrical styles, and having fun learning how to make music. Performance opportunities include the Christmas and spring concerts, caroling at local nursing homes, and singing at other local venues.

Theater 101

Grade Level: 9-12
Elective: One year - 2 credits
Prerequisites: None

In Theater 101, students will learn about acting, but there is much more to a theater production that just acting.  Students will also learn about creating sets, costuming, makeup, sound, lighting, and directing; there is something for everyone.
