Business
 

Computer Applications

Grade Level: 9-12
Required:  Full Year – 2 credits
Prerequisites: None

This class will focus on learning general skills that are essential in business today, with an emphasis on computer applications and technology, specifically Microsoft Office software (Excel and Access), and how it is used in business. It also includes a unit on Web Page Design using XHTML.

Accounting

Grade Level: 10-12
Elective:  One or Two Semesters – 1 or 2 credits
Prerequisites: None

In this introductory accounting class, students will learn the basic principles of accounting and the accounting cycle.  This is an independent study class that requires instructor approval for admission.

Marketing

Grade Level: 10-12
Elective:  One Semester – 1 credit
Prerequisites: None

This class will consist of learning basic marketing procedures and principles, by tracking products from their conception to consumer use. Emphasis will be placed on e-commerce, advertising, careers, retailing and communications. Projects will be a required part of this course. 

Personal Finance

Grade Level:  11-12
Elective:  One or Two Semesters – 1 or 2 credits
Prerequisites:  None

This class will focus on the basic monetary skills needed to function in today’s society.  Topics covered include: checking and savings accounts, budgeting, investing, interest and the time value of money, credit, borrowing, purchasing, leasing and taxes.
